my first attempt

attended to  a workshop on saturday morning. well, the routine starts over again.. they love our weekends so much to a certain extend that they always want us to always spend our time with them doing something fruitful and beneficial. huhu. do you feel appreciated? yes, I am. I would love to spend my weekend working on something even it is actually the right time for us (students and even lecturers) to have a good rest before the hectic days start over and over again. I don't know where their spirit come. I rarely bump to a group of community who really loves working even it is during the holiday. the free holiday. It is, sometimes, good to have them to inspire even I bet I can never ever be like them. haha. no part time allowance given, yet you will still can see them in the departments even during the holidays esp weekends. 

so, we have a workshop on pop up engineering this morning and it is very exciting and interesting indeed. We, women, love arts to bits and pieces as compared to the minority group of man who attend this workshop this morning. really? entahla because there's a group of male english teachers who produces a very gorgeous work but they are not purely men la pulak. jahat!pang!dush! but, that's a reality, creative man is often associated with feminine quality. whatever it is, they are still men in reality.

The workshop goes for three hours which is from 9 am to 12 pm. straight with no rest period due to a short time allocated. the charge is acceptable and still appropriate for the longing for allowance peeps. five ringgit is charged per hour and breakfast is prepared free for all the participants. The organisation that is involved in organising this workshop is Pellta ( Penang English Language Learning and Teaching Association). 

Basically, they teach us about the basic steps of the engineering process. i'm the engineer this morning. i just create my own cards and i'm now officially an engineer. The process involved is undeniably easy wheezy to understand. We were introduced to a few basic lines, folds and types of designs. Most of the time is spend for hands on activities. Finally, after going through all the design and practice it on our own, we finally has been given a chance to create either a card or a story book on our own. We are free to choose whatever designs as long as it is still under the umbrella of pop up engineering. 

To make things easy, i decide to create a  birthday card by applying the parallel fold. simple and fast. mine is ready for display 15 minutes before the workshop end. 

when it comes to hands on activity, three hour is not enough. i need more hours for a bombastic one. balik bilik semangat nak sambung tapi game is more sexy  than the colour paper. mulalah operasi buat burger dalam 'burger rush'.  =)
